大明山是我國西南一大山脈，位于廣西南寧市北面，武鳴、馬山、上林、賓陽四縣的交界處，山體雄偉高大，地勢復雜，峰峻林密谷深，物產資源、水資源豐富。
自古以來，生活在大明山及其周邊地區(qū)的壯族先民對大明山常懷敬畏之心。大明山在壯語里被稱“岜是”，意為“祖宗神山”之意，地位崇高。
水錦峽谷是大明山余脈，這一帶曾是駱越古國的富庶之地,也是駱越文化重要的發(fā)源地。駱越先民在此創(chuàng)造了燦爛的稻作文化、 棉紡織文化、 銅鼓文化、冶煉制造文化、崖壁畫文化、干欄式建筑文化等特色鮮明的駱越文化。
水錦巖畫遵循壯族先民的“天、地、水”三元宇宙觀，半山鑿渠，引水繞山，沿用古巖畫作畫技法，于石壁創(chuàng)作巖畫，記錄、呈現(xiàn)燦爛的駱越文化。
Daming Mountain is one of Chinese southwest mountain chain which is located in the north of Nanning bordering Wuming, Mashan, Shangling and Binyang in Guangxi province. The whole mountain is towering and terrain is complex. The forest is dense too. It has rich natural resource and water resource.
Since ancient times, the Zhuang people who have lived in Daming Mountain respect the mountain with their sincere hearts. Daming Mountain is called Bashi in Zhuang language which means the holy mountain of ancestor and have a supreme position in the Zhuang.
Shuijin valley is a part of the Daming mountain. It used to be a rich and bustling place in Luoyue. And it is the cradle of Luoyue culture. People of Luoyue have created Daozuo culture, cotton manufacturing culture, bronze drum culture, smelting culture, rock painting culture, balustrade building culture, etc. There are very distinctive and colorful.
Shuijin rock paintings follow the rule of Zhuang's which is three factor cosmology including the universe, the ground and the water. People dug canal on the halfway mountain and caught water around the mountain. They used ancient technique on painting rocks on palisades. Those rock paintings reflect the gorgeous Luoyue culture.
